Tree Removal York - Birch
I don’t know what it is about Birch removals but I adore them. Actually no that’s an outright lie, I know exactly why I love Birch removals. The limbs are light enough to man handle, but strong enough for a good anchor point, spikes stick in effortlessly. It even smells nice and you can drink the sap in spring. Why wouldn’t you love Birch? So I was, as I am for 90% of Birch Removals, extremely excited.
Alas this was not quite the case for Tom & Tom on the ground, who were up against one of our nastier drags. Down two flights of narrow garden stairs (lined with barbed wire), along a narrow and steep alley, before even getting to the chipper.
Which meant that there was no point, even though there was quite a big drop zone, to free fall out large pieces. Instead once I’d cleared a path for the rigging line, we lowered it down piece by piece, so that it could all be taken straight to the chipper without any more processing. Which while was initially was done to make it easy for the Toms on the ground, the wind really picked up at about lunch time (along with sleet). Which sometimes can be a real help but unfortunately in this time it was gusting in the completely wrong direction and it was reassuring to know there was an extra layer of control in as we started to dismantle the top of what was the canopy.
Then it was just a case of chogging or ringing down the stem, which was relatively straightforward as all that I needed to avoid was brick path, directly under the tree. So I dropped them all in about 8 inch pieces on to the grass, which was frozen so solid it didn’t make a dint.
